Andrea Coleman is a textile artist who lives and works in Somerset. She has been felt making for nearly 20 years and has taught students from aged 3 to 103. She uses many techniques similar to medieval felt makers, but with a modern upcycling twist incorporating fine silks. You can see examples of her work in her gallery on www.artfelt.co.uk
“In my felt hat making workshop, you will make a beautiful warm felt hat using pure merino fleece and silk. No experience needed, only your creative hands. During the workshop you will learn how to use a resist to make a hollow seamless form. The felt hat will be made by layering the wool fibres across each other, incorporating recycled silk fabrics. Felt making encourages your amazing ability and imagination, and lets you have fun at the same time.”
