    Apple pruning

Unravel the mysteries of apple pruning during this practical demonstration. We will look at the formative pruning of young apple trees and pruning of established trees that have been well-maintained. We will discuss summer pruning and see how it is used to maintain our trained cordons, espaliers and fans, then compare it to winter pruning of our traditional orchard trees. This demonstration does not cover the renovation of neglected trees.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera or mobile phone for photos if you wish
Please wear clothes and footwear suitable for the weather on the day as this workshop will take place outside. It can be very cold at this time of year and you will be standing in one place for much of the time.

Tutor: Pete Adams, RHS Garden Team
