Wilderness Weekend is all about introducing people to living off the land, treading more quietly and understanding more about nature and the ability we all (people and plants) have to survive our ever-changing situations.

This fun packed weekend has activities that everyone can experience and enjoy and we are excited to be welcoming The Royal Marines Association, who have been great supporters of this event.

This year they will have their Med Squad with equipment, and a display of weapons and military kit stance. Come and try food from their ration packs, and find out more about the life of a Royal Marine.

Roli Jones from Bear Tracks Survival has a wealth of experience gained through a lifetime outdoors. He is a qualified woodwork and metalwork teacher, as well as being Blacksmith and will be here to offer sessions on the Introduction to Knife Safety and Knife Work’.

There will be two sessions each day, 12noon–1pm and 2pm–3pm which will need to be booked online at £5 per person. Only suitable for people over the age of 10years. There will be other field craft activities being held by the Bear Tracks Survival team which you can enjoy.

The Exmoor Archers who have been established for more than 60 years have kindly offered to come along and teach some new skills such as how to safely to use a bow.

Sue Ashmole from Cadenza Alpacas will be bringing her beautiful Alpacas along for you to meet and will teach you a bit about felting with Alpaca Wool.

Devon Dowsers will be here to teach you about the traditional way of locating water and minerals beneath the earth’s surface. It is also a great way to discover how dowsers are used for many other reasons.

In our Garden Room, you will be able to take part in other activities such as wooden spoon making, lathing, felting, learning about the use and benefits of natural herbs, natural skincare products and also, a chance to come and learn to weave with the Devon Weavers.
