A family-friendly display in the orchard at RHS Wisley.

How old is the oldest apple tree? What’s a ‘pippin’? How do apple trees survive the cold? And what happened to the wise old tree that got stuck by lightning?!

Apples are amazing. They provide us with food and drink, they can grow in different locations all over the country, and they are homes for a diverse range of insects, birds and animals. In this family-friendly exhibition in the orchard at RHS Garden Wisley you can find out all about apples and how we grow them. Exploring the orchard you will be able to see all the different varieties that grow there and learn about their fascinating history through fun facts and challenges. With images of beautiful artworks from the RHS Library collections and all the sights, sounds and smells of the orchard, there’s something for all in this autumn exhibition!
