Wisley Garden Library
Our Garden Library lends to RHS members and is open to all garden visitors for reference. We provide comfortable facilities for browsing books, relaxing with the latest gardening magazines and for undertaking research. We can also help visitors use the collection to find answers to their enquiries.
The Garden Library has moved into the lovely Gardiners’ House, which will make the house available to the public for the first time.
Opening hours: Mon-Fri 10am–4pm, weekends and bank holidays 11am–4pm (closed for Christmas period)
We look forward to seeing you.
As Gardiner's House is one of the oldest buildings at Wisley we regret that the Garden Library cannot accommodate mobility scooters and motorised wheelchairs. We do have an access ramp for visitors with smaller wheelchairs and other mobility difficulties. If you have accessibility difficulties and would like to visit the library on your trip to Wisley please make entrance staff aware and a member of our team will give you access via the alternative route. If you use a motorised scooter or larger motorised wheelchair please call the library in advance to check if we can arrange access, or provide an alternative solution.
Wisley Research Library
Our Research Library specialises in horticultural taxonomy and science. Available to RHS staff, students and visitors by appointment. Here we keep unique collections of horticultural science, research as well as the Wisley Garden archives.
You are welcome to use our Research Library during the week but please make an appointment to be assured of availability.
RHS Bursary reports collection
Copies of all RHS Bursary reports are held by the Wisley Library, to look at if you are preparing to apply for a bursary, or need to write up your own report, as well as a source of information and inspiration on the places or topics written about.
Digital copies of all bursary reports from 2010 onwards can be seen on-screen at the Wisley Garden Library. Pdfs may also be requested by email from firstname.lastname@example.org. Copies of all other bursary reports are kept in off-site storage, and must be requested two weeks in advance.
To find records of RHS Bursary Reports via the library online catalogue, use the search term RHS Bursary Reports in the Subject field. To find shortlisted or prize-winning bursaries – the best examples – use the search term bursary and (short$ or winner$) or look at the latest winners in the Bursary section of the website.
Until all reports are added to our catalogue you can see our list below
