Five hours per week
Do you like helping people see the world anew through art and gardening? Are you passionate about sharing the story? Do you enjoy working in a close-knit team? Then joining our dedicated team of volunteers might be for you.
RHS Garden Wisley, the Society's flagship garden, currently has volunteering opportunities as a Visitor Experience volunteer, helping any day of the week, to share the exciting story of a new temporary sculpture exhibition. Featuring iconic works by Henry Moore, Lynn Chadwick, Philip Haas, Phillip King, Henry Bruce, and Tracey Emin the exhibition runs from 30 May to 1 December 2019.
You will become a friendly face of the exhibition, answering questions and helping visitors to see art in the garden in new ways. The exhibition is a first for the RHS so your help and experience would be invaluable to help us create the best experience for visitors as possible.
We ask that volunteers give a commitment of at least five hours one day a week on a regular basis (usually from 10am to 4pm with one hour for lunch, but exact times and hours will depend on the season as the garden is open longer hours in the spring and summer). We do, of course, understand that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before filling in an application.
As a Volunteer at Wisley, there will also be opportunities to help with other teams in the future.
The only requirements are for applicants to be friendly, approachable and enjoy talking with people and also be of reasonable physical fitness (you need to be able to stand and chat with people or walk with them). Training and information about the exhibition will be provided.
For more information please see the Volunteer Role Description below.
To apply, complete an online application form, even if you have volunteered with us before. Please ensure that you demonstrate how you meet the desirable qualities listed in the role description in your application. Please note this link will take you through to our Volunteer Portal where, if you have not already done so, you will be prompted to create a log in before progressing to the application form. For further information, please call Sara Draycott on 01483 479721 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 15 July 2019.
