2015 is Year of the Sunflower

Come and see the sunflower trial at RHS Garden Wisley - admire hundreds of blooms and you can even vote for your favourite in the People's Choice award

Multicoloured sunflower, part of the RHS plant trial2015 is turning into a real celebration of sunflowers, and even though the AGM (Award of Garden Merit) trial is based at Wisley, there are also displays being grown at all the RHS Gardens as well as at some of our RHS Partner Gardens.

We have taken our sunflower demonstration to RHS Flower Show Tatton Park this week, where we have been busy preparing a mass planting of pot-grown plants to show off some of the trial entries. We have our fingers crossed for a fair helping of sunny days this week. If you're at the show, be sure to come and see us.

Small pleasuresDwarf sunflowers on trial at RHS Garden Wisley

I am really enjoying checking on progress of the sunflowers at Wisley, especially the fantastic display of more than 30 varieties of dwarf container types which are in full flower at the moment.

With the warm sunny weather we’ve enjoyed recently, even the tallest border types are starting to bloom. Hopefully there will be plenty of cheerful flowers to enjoy on the trials field right through to September. If you are thinking of visiting the trial please vote for your favourite as, beside the AGM trial, we are also having a People’s Choice award, and the winner will be announced in September.
