• AGM plants

    AGM plants have been through a rigorous trial and assessment programme. They are:

    • Excellent for ordinary use in appropriate conditions
    • Available to buy
    • Of good constitution
    • Essentially stable in form & colour
    • Reasonably resistant to pests & diseases

All Plant Society events listed below will be held at RHS Garden Wisley and do not have an entry fee (apart from normal garden admission), unless otherwise stated.

People’s Dahlia Competition

Do you, or somebody you know, grow dahlias? Why not take part in the fun and show off your favourite garden bloom in the People’s Dahlia competition. Free to enter for show visitors with prizes for all winners and every entry will have the chance to win the special ‘Visitors’ Choice Award’.

Simply bring your dahlia stems along to the National Dahlia Society marquee at the RHS Wisley Flower Show before 12 noon on Saturday 8 or Sunday 9 September. 4 March – Fritillaria Show

Colourful displays of spring flowering fritillarias, unusual plants for sale, fascinating talks on plant hunting, care and propagation as well as a photographic exhibition and friendly experts on hand to answer your questions.  (11am – 4pm).

10 March – Orchid Society of Great Britain Spring Show

Fabulous displays of rare orchids, competition classes and unusual plants for sale. Learn how to care for your orchids at the free workshops during the day and talk to our friendly experts for help with all your orchid questions. (11am – 4pm).

24 & Sun 25 March – Bonsai Show – featuring pines:  

Come and enjoy the fascinating competition classes featuring displays of bonsai pines along with advice and demonstrations on growing them from seed as well as care information aimed at beginners through to experienced growers. There will be plants and bonsai equipment for sale. The Wisley Plant Centre will also host a re-potting, styling and advice service. Visitors should bring their bonsai trees to The Plant Centre by 12 noon on either 24 or 25 March, from £5 per tree. (10am – 4pm).

7 April – Cyclamen Spring Show  

Competition classes featuring rare and interesting cyclamen, displays of spring-flowering cyclamen species, unusual cultivars and companion plants for sale and friendly experts on hand for help & advice. (10am – 4pm).

8 April – World of Alpines

Enjoy gorgeous displays of alpine plants and bulbs as well as photographic displays of wonderful alpines from around the world. Many unusual plants for sale and advice from the experts. (10am – 4pm).

28 April – British Iris Society Late Spring Show

Collections of spring flowering iris on display as well and a photographic exhibition, plants for sale and experts available to answer your questions. (11am – 4pm).

6 May – Mammillaria Society Show

Displays and collections of these fascinating plants with specialist talks and plant care demonstrations. This event is aimed at experts to novices and also features photographic displays and plant sales. (10am – 4pm).

12 May – National Alpine Show

This exciting national level show will feature a marquee packed with unusual alpine plants for sale, colourful displays and competition classes. Visitors can join guided tours of the Wisley alpine areas and collections. (10.30am – 4pm)

2 June – British Iris Society Summer Show

Gorgeous collections of summer flowering iris on display as well and a photographic exhibition, plants for sale and experts available to answer your questions. (11am – 4pm).

9 June – Peony Show

Celebrating all things peony. Fascinating talks about the history and development of peonies as well as caring for and use of different types in the garden. Visitors can take part in free propagation demonstrations and enjoy the colourful displays and unusual plants for sale. Guided tours of the peony trials beds will take place throughout the day. (10.45 – 4pm).

16 & 17 June – Plant Society Show

A fabulous day out for plant lovers and gardeners of all levels featuring over 20 different Plant Societies with all the garden favourites such as delphiniums, clematis, sweet peas, iris & dahlias as well as alpines, fruit & vegetables, hostas, carnivorous, bonsai & cactus.

Visitors to this annual Plant Society show can enjoy lovely displays of colourful and unusual plants, chat to friendly experts for help and advice, take part in free propagation, pruning and plant care demonstrations and buy gorgeous and unusual plants and seeds. You can also find out what to cook with your garden produce throughout the year. (Sat 9am – 5.30pm, Sun 9am – 5pm).

11 & 12 August – British Pteridological Society Show

Displays of unusual tender and garden ferns with an interesting range of ferns for sale. Take part in free propagation demonstrations, tours of the Wisley fern plantings and meet our friendly experts for a chat and advice on the planting, care and use of ferns in all parts of the garden. (10.15am – 4.30pm).

14 August – A Day With Hibiscus

An opportunity to learn all about hibiscus and how to grow and use them around the garden. Enjoy displays of interesting specimens and browse plants sales and a photographic exhibition. Tours of the Wisley hibiscus trials will take place throughout the day and friendly experts will be on hand. (10.15am – 4pm).

18 & 19 August – Carnivorous Plant Society

Fascinating displays of carnivorous plants from around the world. Talks on the planting, care and use of these plants in the garden. Unusual plants and books for sale. (10.15am – 4.30pm).

21 October – Conifer Society Show

Displays and talks about conifer care and use.  Find out about conifers for every size and aspect of garden as wells as a show of cones and photographs. (10am – 4pm).
