It is included in an evolving list of plants carefully researched and chosen by RHS experts. Divided into 3 groups these lists, linked below, are maintained by a team of RHS staff and are reviewed annually.
'Cambridge Blue' is a compact annual to 15cm, forming a low hummock of narrow foliage, with clear light blue, two-lipped flowers 2cm across in summer and autumn
'Pink Elephant' is an erect herbaceous perennial to 1.5m in height, with lance-shaped leaves and vivid light red-purple flowers to 3cm in length in late summer
'Fan Orchidrosa' is an upright perennial to 50cm, usually grown as an annual, with dark green leaves and deep rosy purple flowers 2.5cm in length in summer and autumn
Cascade Series are trailing annuals to 15cm, with neat foliage and usually white-eyed flowers 2cm across, in shades of blue, violet, mauve, pink and crimson as well as white
'String of Pearls' is a spreading annual to 25cm in height, with neat foliage and flowers in shades of light and deep blue, purple or white, some with a white eye
'Hadspen Purple' is a semi-evergreen perennial, up to 60cm in height, with upright stems bearing ovate to lance-shaped, purple-flushed, light green leaves and terminal racemes of two-lipped, bright purple flowers from summer into autumn
'Fan Scharlach' is a perennial, usually grown as an annual, with bronze-green, oblong leaves and leafy racemes of rich scarlet flowers in summer and autumn
'Kompliment Scharlach' is a short-lived perennial usually grown as an annual, to 80cm tall, with narrow, dark green foliage and lax terminal racemes of two-lipped scarlet flowers
'Fan Zinnoberrosa' is an upright bushy perennial to 60cm tall, usually grown as an annual, with narrow, dark green leaves and deep rose-red flowers 3cm wide, in dense spikes from mid summer to early autumn
L. × speciosa are clump-forming perennials, often grown as annuals or biennials, with basal rosettes of pale to dark green, bronzy, red-flushed or dark red foliage. In summer and early autumn they produce dense, upright spires of two-lipped, tubular flowers in shades of red, pink, purple or blue
