'Silver Queen' is a large evergreen shrub with rounded greyish-green leaves narrowly margined with creamy-white. Small deep purple flowers sparsely produced
P. tobira is a dense, broad, slow-growing medium-sized evergreen shrub with leathery, glossy, obovate leaves, and large terminal umbels of small sweetly-scented flowers opening white, soon turning yellow, in late spring and early summer
'Abbotsbury Gold' is an evergreen shrub to 3m tall and wide, with rounded leathery yellow leaves margined with dark green; fragrant deep purple flowers 1cm wide open in late spring and early summer
'Arundel Green' is an erect cultivar with semi-glossy green leaves with undulate margins. Older branches are smooth and dark grey, while younger twigs are very dark purplish-red. Small, scented, near-black flowers may been seen in late spring and summer; the flowers have red filaments but there is no viable pollen produced so this cultivar is female
'Tom Thumb' is a dense, slow-growing small evergreen shrub of rounded habit, with deep purple, undulate leaves contrasting with light green young growth; not free-flowering
'Variegatum' is a slow-growing medium-sized evergreen shrub of dense, rounded habit. Leaves obovate, dark green with creamy-white margins. Small, sweetly-scented white flowers in late spring and early summer turn yellow with age
P. tenuifolium is a large, broadly columnar evergreen shrub with slender, dark shoots. Leaves rounded, glossy light green, with wavy margins. Small, honey-scented deep purple flowers open in clusters in late spring and early summer
'Elizabeth' is a evergreen shrub to 4m in height with narrow oval, wavy-edged grey-green leaves that are edged with cream, flushed pink, in all seasons. Scented, dark purple star-shaped flowers are borne from early summer
'Garnettii' is a dense bushy medium-sized evergreen shrub of erect habit, with rounded grey-green leaves narrowly edged with cream and sometimes tinged pink in winter, and small deep purple flowers in clusters
