'Ripley Gold' is a bushy, small evergreen tree or large shrub with broadly oval, almost spineless, leaves that are boldly-splashed with yellow and pale green. Flowers small, dull white; berries brownish-red, not abundant
'Belgica Aurea' is a vigorous small evergreen tree or shrub with almost entire leaves to 10cm in length, dark green edged with creamy-yellow. Flowers small, white; berries red, sparsely produced
'Lawsoniana' is a bushy large evergreen shrub or small tree to 6m, with broad, almost spineless leaves splashed with yellow and yellow-green in the centre. Flowers small, dull white; berries dull red
I. × altaclarensis is a variable hybrid forming anything from medium or large evergreen shrubs to small or medium-sized trees up to around 15m in height. Leaves are usually glossy and with few, if any, spines. Orange to red berries may be borne on female plants. Many cultivars of this hybrid are excellent for use as tall hedges or screens and are resistant to pollution and able to withstand coastal exposure
'Camelliifolia' is a vigorous medium-sized evergreen tree with dark glossy green, almost spineless leaves to 12cm long, on purple young shoots. Flowers small, dull white, followed by large red berries
'Golden King' is a small bushy evergreen tree or shrub with broad ovate, slightly spiny leaves margined with bright yellow. Flowers small, dull white; berries brownish-red, not abundant
'James G. Esson' is a large evergreen shrub, or small tree, with an open pyramidal habit with glossy, variably spiny, dark-green foliage on purple stems. White flowers, in spring or early summer, are followed by abundant bright red fruit on this female cultivar if pollinated by a male cultivar
'Hodginsii' is a vigorous medium-sized conical evergreen tree with purple young shoots. Leaves ovate, dark glossy green, mostly unspined. Flowers small, dull white, male
