  • Unusual copper beech boundary hedge making a dark but effective foil for the delicate planting
  • Look out for the swaying purple bells of Dierama pulcherrimum overhanging the reflective black-lined pool, amid the matrix planting of this part of the garden
  • Pair of wonderful multistemmed specimen trees of Cornus kousa smothered in cream yellow flowerheads are standout features

About the Garden

The Wedgwood garden is an English garden but not as one might expect… Romantic and informal, distinctively English in feel but not a reproduction or pastiche.

Drawing inspiration from Wedgwood’s rich history and its futures, the central feature of the garden is a contemporary take on a living space, inspired by Wedgwood’s attitude to interior living, blurring the relationship between indoors and outdoors and bringing nature and natural elements to people’s homes to strengthen their quality of life. Its design explores new materials and reimagines the traditional, while attention to detail and craftsmanship remain at the forefront.

The garden around it has been created to take you on a journey; through angular geometry and enticing view ports the garden encourages you to explore. Highlighting specimen plants and interesting features along the way, the principal focus of the garden, a body of water, is a nod to the canals that were pivotal in Josiah Wedgwood’s early success.
