The Inspire and Achieve Foundation Garden: The Good Within

This garden aims to represent the charitable work of the Foundation, in helping to inspire young people who may have experienced difficulties in their lives that have prevented them from exploring opportunities to a better future

Did you know...

  • All materials and labour have been donated to the charity in order to create the garden
  • The outside structure represents the possibly hostile world without, but the garden within symbolises a colourful future
  • The garden takes inspiration from Joseph Paxton who started from humble beginnings to attain the position of Head Gardener at Chatsworth House in his twenties

About the Garden

The Inspire and Achieve Foundation inspires young people to work towards a positive future, providing structured activities that improve their approach, attitude and behaviours towards education, employment and volunteering. For many, their starts in life have shaped their difficulties, and this is represented in the garden by the neglected exterior of the building, a place of trouble and something to be avoided.
The sculpture appearing above the roofline is the light that encourages us to look beyond the exterior. Inside, the true spirit of the person is found, represented by blossoming and vibrant planting. The recognition of something great within that person, forcing the walls to break down in one corner, giving views of a wider landscape, represent a brighter future and new horizons.
