New designers welcome

You don't have to be famous to submit an idea for a Chelsea garden

Breast Cancer Haven Garden Chelsea 2015Chelsea is well known for its big-name designers, such as Cleve West and Sarah Eberle, but the garden calendar’s most prestigious show also welcomes designers new to RHS shows, and up-and-coming designers.

There are three garden categories at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The largest of these, the Show Gardens, measure from 10m x 10m to 10m x 22m and above. The smaller categories – Fresh Gardens and Artisan Gardens – feature smaller gardens measuring from 5m x 4m to 12m x 12m.

We are keen to encourage and support designers who wish to be involved in our shows. Being a part of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show is an ambition for many designers and is a fabulous way for designers to promote themselves whilst being involved in an event that truly puts horticulture in the global spotlight.

The Chelsea Team would be happy to talk through the application process with you.

"After first exhibiting at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, the RHS shows have ultimately provided me with a platform that has led me to becoming Show Manager of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show." Tom Harfleet, Show Manager

The Gardens

World Vision Garden 2015Show Gardens demonstrate the best of horticulture and excellence in garden design and innovative landscaping.

The largest gardens at the show offer the ability to create the extraordinary, generate wonder and excitement and make a lasting impact.

Fresh Gardens – fresh in both name and nature, the Fresh Gardens redefine perceptions and expectations of a garden space. Designs represent physical interpretations of ideas and themes; they embrace new technology, trends and materials creating an unforgettable fusion of cutting edge design and brilliant horticulture.

Artisan Gardens – Traditional materials and methods are revitalised through new design approaches in the creation of the Artisan Gardens. Rustic combines with stylish modern twists, resulting in bold and exciting gardens.

"Having won RHS Young Designer of the Year in 2014 and with the continued support of the RHS to now be included in the stellar line-up of Chelsea designers is a huge honour and a little bit daunting."  Sam Ovens, winner of RHS Young Designer of the Year 2014 and designer of Cloudy Bay Garden 2016
