The tiered nature of this garden allows plants to be displayed to their best advantage. Fox gloves, hostas and yellow Trollius are effective but dark flowered Fritillaria persica is a stand out plant.

An undulating stainless steel water fountain is a focal point of this garden and is set into a dry stone wall, traditional materials blending with modern and softened by romantic planting.

Planting in the terraced bed are soft and traditional but included some unusual plants such as Amsonia, Thallictrum, white-flowered Libertia and the dusky bells of Fritillaria persica.

The dry stone walls are charmingly planted with ivies and in particular native fern Asplenium trichomanes, which is often found naturally growing in this habitat.
