Bosch Lawn and Garden and Harrod Horticultural have been named joint winners of the RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year competition. This is the first time that the prestigious award has gone to two winners.
Bosch Lawn and Garden was recognised for the Isio Shape and Edge Shear, while Harrod Horticultural was awarded for its Harrod Slot & Lock Storm Proof Vegetable Cages.
The judges were impressed by the level of innovation on show, and by the number of British manufactured products among the finalists. ‘The level of innovation displayed in the entries has increased each year, making it very challenging to single out a winner,’ they said.
They praised the Isio Shape and Edge Shear - shaped by consumer feedback - for its neatness and functionality. 'It’s perfect for a medium size garden and allows for hedge cutting without the use of a ladder,' the judges commented.
'The Harrod Slot & Lock is a simple yet innovative British product that solves a perennial gardening problem,’ they said.
The winning products were chosen from a line-up of 17 innovative gardening products, all of them designed with the gardener’s needs in mind, and in a sustainable and environmentally-friendly way.
