Search for aspiring designer to be shown in new TV series

Fabric Garden at Chelsea 2014The RHS has teamed up with the BBC in its search to find the best aspiring garden designer in the UK.

The winner of the competition will win the ultimate prize in horticulture – a chance to design a show garden feature on the RHS Stand on Main Avenue at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2015.

The search for the winner will be followed on a BBC Two show called Designs On Chelsea (working title) which will be filmed around the country this summer. The final will take place at the RHS headquarters in Wisley, Surrey.

Sue Biggs, RHS Director General, said: “Finalists will face a series of horticultural challenges and need to demonstrate immense skill and passion to impress the judges and win the prize of a garden feature at the world’s most celebrated gardening event.”

The television series will be made by BBC Features in Bristol which already produces the BBC coverage of RHS Shows at Chelsea, Tatton and Hampton Court, along with Gardeners’ World.

“This won’t be a walk in the park for the budding garden designers – with one of the biggest prizes in TV on offer it’s going to take creativity, design and plant knowledge, passion, determination and grit to win this competition. ” said Will Knott, Executive Producer.
