The Secret Garden inspired show garden represents the transition between the chaotic, lonely childhoods of Mary and Colin from The Secret Garden story, to a happier and healthier time. The back of the garden is unkempt, neglected and unloved. Gradually it changes, until it becomes a beautiful, natural, yet nurtured space where the children can relax and play. Colin’s late mother is represented by the statue. It’s clear that the children have developed a love of nature from the little plants they have potted up and the small areas where they have tended their own patches in the garden to grow a few annuals and bulbs.
The new film The Secret Garden is in cinemas nationwide this Easter.
