The legend of the Physicians of Myddfai provide the inspiration for this garden design. The village of Mydffai in Wales was once a revered centre of herbal healing and learning, and from it emanated a golden era of new ideas and cultural development.
A medieval physician's garden is set amid a ruin. On the garden walls are botanical plants, and in the garden are trees and herbs referred to in the physicians’ recipe book. Included are other plants and their constituent parts noted for their medicinal qualities such as ash, honey, bark and dried leaves. A wellspring at the forefront represents pure water essential in the healing arts.
