Welsh Wood and Woodlands

National Museum Wales

Show Features
The Museum’s display tells the story of the diversity of Welsh woodlands, from the ancient ‘coal forests’ of Palaeozoic times, through the post-glacial forests up to the present day. It draws on specimens and information from the Museum’s unique collections, including living and preserved plants, timber-specimens, models, fossils and botanical illustrations. The Feature examines different timbers and the uses to which they have been put.

Family activities, including fossil-collecting, handling specimens, microscopic viewing, and crafts, are available.
