Urban Regeneration Garden

Regeneration Gardens

Did you know...

  • Soft ochres and brown colours in the recycled concrete are echoed in the planting by native wood rushes (Luzula) and the unfurling buds of pines and dusky hellebore flowers.
  • The subtle, understated planting is shot through with zingy lime-green euphorbias and chrome yellow marsh marigolds (Caltha), bringing a welcome contrast.

About the Garden

Designed to use inexpensive, accessible materials in an imaginative way, this garden has disused water tanks, found while out walking, as its main feature. This provides a reservoir to receive water that drops from
a raised rill made of folded 4mm steel, and the hard landscaping’s block-like formality echoes its industrial appearance.

To contrast, a number of plane trees, Platanus × acerifolia, and a matrix of grasses and soft yellow herbaceous plants create a restful environment in which to relax.
