Family Day 2016

Saturday 23 July was a special day for families, with lots of fun events and activities

To coincide with the launch of the big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s THE BFG, directed by Steven Spielberg, The Big Friendly Giant came to this year’s flower show in the form of Tatton Park’s fabulous show garden.
Visitors were able to take part in Roald Dahl activities with the RHS and Tatton team.

School Gardens

At Tatton it was not just the grown-ups who got to play around with garden design. There were 20 schools taking part in this competition – this year all the creations had been inspired by a musical.

This show feature followed the antics of fictional plant hunter Ladybird Su as she searches for new and interesting plants for her garden.

Biggest bubbleBubbles, Butterflies and Storytelling

Visitors enjoyed special entertainment on Family Day, including the amazing Bubbleman, beautiful roaming butterfly people and Ian Douglas the magical storyteller.

And there was more...

Twigtwisters' fabulous willow creations formed an Alice in Willow wonderland. Then if families fancied taking a break, they could join in with some seed sowing and other gardening activities with the RHS.
