Butterfly Dome

New for 2017, visitors could explore our tropically planted dome, filled with exotic butterflies from South America and Indonesia

Tatton's Butterfly Dome

Visitors to the 2017 Tatton Park Flower Show could enter a tropical paradise experience, full of colourful exotic butterflies. Our specially designed tropical dome allowed you to walk with the insects as they whirl around, while also learning all about their fascinating life cycle.

Outside, around the dome, we had planted a meadow full of wild flowers designed to attract British butterflies, with specifically selected plants to also entice in pollinating insects.
Inside the dome, there was fabulous tropical planting as well as the colourful butterflies, so there were plenty of opportunities to capture a special photo as they flew around you in a spectacular display of colour.

Within the puparium area, kids were captivated by the rows of pupae on show, and you could learn about the life cycle of butterflies and marvel as you watched them emerge from their chrysalises for the first time.
