Visitors met the future stars of garden design, indulged in some shopping and learned how to create a vegetable plot – all at the 2019 Tatton Park

The 2019 RHS Flower Show Tatton Park was jam-packed – with showstopping plants, hands-on workshops and cutting-edge designers all joining the line-up.
 
Whether you needed inspiration for your borders at home, wanted to indulge in some retail therapy or have a fun-filled day out with all of the family, there was something for everyone at Tatton Park.

Explore RHS Garden Bridgewater

Leon Davis and Peter Gregory created a fun and playful garden, inspired by the natural woodland of the new RHS Garden Bridgewater, opening in Salford in 2020.

Designed to be enjoyed by children, visitors walked through the garden and grassy landforms, and stopped to explore the innovative speaking tubes built into each hill.

Parts of the garden will be relocated to RHS Garden Bridgewater, as a permanent legacy dedicated to children’s play.

Wander through a rainbow 

The Egerton Clump in the centre of the showground was packed with a rainbow of dahlias, with more than 5000 flowers on display. 

Visitors captured snaps of these plants at their best and discovered an array of varieties, including Dahlia 'Topia',  'Castillo' and 'Salinas'.

A lawn masterclass in Mow Town

For those passionate about creating the perfect lawn, Mow Town offered the tools you needed to create your own lush lawn at home.

Host, David Hedges-Gower, introduced demonstrations and talks that explored the intricate details of lawn care, helping visitors to work through any challenges and share successes.

Discover the secret world of bugs

Our bug-friendly bio-dome offered the chance to learn about all the fascinating insects that pollinate our gardens and why they are so important.

Visitors got hands-on by discovering bugs up-close under microscopes, read about the plants that help insects thrive and found out more about the intricate workings of the garden ecosystem.

Speakers Barbara Tigar, Chris Smith, Kate Bradbury, Michael Perry, Andrew Salisbury and many more, shared their expert knowledge and tips to get growing for wildlife.

Take home ideas for your garden

Tatton Park is renowned for showcasing the garden designers of the future and 2019 was no exception. Our famous RHS Young Designer of the Year competition made a welcome return to the show and saw designers go head to head in a bid to be crowned the winner.
 
Alongside the Young Designer competition, there were unique designs in our gardens, including inspiring planting from the Back to Back Gardens. This unique category showcases what can be achieved in a small space.

Marvel at plant displays 

Plant growers from up and down the country were at Tatton Park, creating show-stopping displays in the Floral Marquee and Plant Village. A treat for the senses, visitors were amazed at the glorious colours, blooms and scents on display.
 
The Floral Marquee and Plant Village were essential pit stops for any gardener. Here, you could buy plants, discover new favourites, and ask experts for their advice. All the exhibitors in these marquees are experts in their field and offered their top tips and advice to keep plants looking lovely all year round.

Visit the Flower School

The Flower School was a hub of flowery inspiration, offering demonstrations, workshops and beautiful blooms. Visitors saw experts in their field create stunning displays and learned how to do the same at home. 

Activities for all in Greenfields  

The fabulous gardens, created by schools based in the North West, filled Greenfields with creativity and took their inspiration from our many glorious beneficial British bugs.

There were pond critters to study in a pond workshop and willow weaving for the garden. Greenfields gave children a real chance to get involved in fun family activities.

Create your dream vegetable plot 

The new Dig In area had a host of experts on-hand, offering help and advice for creating your own plot and taking home some inspiration from the popular fruit and vegetable competitions.

Snap a selfie with the RHS letters 

Floral designer Jonathan Moseley put together our stunning RHS letters. Visitors took pictures with our iconic show feature and were inspired by the colourful display. 

Shop until you drop

Whether you were after a new lawn mower, interested in a wind chime, or fancied a new set of plates for your kitchen, Tatton Park had it all.
 
There was something to suit every taste, garden and budget, with a showground teaming with tradestands. Visitors found the perfect gift from our artisan craft sellers, sampled tasty organic treats from our foodie exhibitors and treated themselves to a little something while at the show.
