Roses at the 2014 show

Beautiful new roses were on show in the Festival of Roses & Floristry Marquee including the Rose of the Year 2015


Rosa For Your Eyes OnlyThe Rose of the Year 2015 - Rosa For Your Eyes Only ('Cheweyesup') - was in full bloom at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2014 and visitors were able to take in its aroma in the Festival of Roses & Floristry Marquee.

This award-winning floribunda rose is the result of more than 30 years of selective breeding. Each bloom opens to reveal the distinctive dark ‘eye’ and prominent stamens.This is a rose that flowers abundantly in shades of dark pink with salmon and apricot tints. It is also said to have excellent disease resistance and grows to around 90cm (3ft) x 90cm (3ft) in height and spread.

Rosa Little DuetLittle Duet ('Guesblis')
This floribunda rose grows to around 60cm (2ft); the dark, young, bronzed, highly glossed foliage, said to show excellent disease resistance, is offset by purple stems. Good-sized, scalloped-edged, pink-red blooms with yellow 'reverse-petals', produced singularly and in small clusters with a pleasant light fragrance. Early flowering, repeating until late autumn. This rose will perform well in a container or at the front of a mixed border.

Rosa Orange Blossom SpecialOrange Blossom Special ('Smi52/02')
Bred by Edward Smith Roses, a climbing rose that lives up to its name, producing long, tall, strong upright stems which grow to 1.8 - 2.4m  (6 - 8ft), covered in trusses of large burnt-mandarin, well shaped, lightly fragranced blooms. Each stem produces up to 20 blooms and repeat flowers until late autumn. Foliage is high-glossed mid-green and said to have excellent disease resistance.

Rosa InfinityInfinity ('Frytropic')
Bred by Gareth Fryer, this hybrid tea rose produces huge, classically formed and scented apricot blooms on long, strong stems. Growth is sturdy and full of vigour with tough leathery foliage that is said to show exceptional disease resistance. Flowering prolifically throughout the season, this variety has gained awards in several international rose trials. Grows to a height of approx. 110cm (31/2ft).

Rosa Disco QueenDisco Queen ('Tan 08171')
A patio rose with glowing geranium-red flowers. Dark-red globular buds open to full, cup-shaped flowers in large clusters. The dense foliage is mid-green and glossy. This rose would sit well in a ‘hot’ border. The bright, high-energy colour inspired Pococks to name it for the Queen of Disco - the late Donna Summer.

Rosa CessaCessa
A hybrid tea rose which produces plentiful, scented, frilly blooms of pink offset by healthy foliage. Named for the charity SSNAP (Support for Sick Newborn and their Parents), supporting the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and across the Thames Valley. Fittingly named ‘Cessa’ after Cessa Moore (MBE) who retired last year after 30 years as chairman of SSNAP. A donation will be made to the charity for each plant sold.

Rosa Avec AmourAvec Amour® ('Tan 04341')
A classic hybrid tea variety with spiral-shaped buds of lemon yellow, opening to full flowers, with a sweet fragrance. Flowering early in the season, it repeats rapidly until the first frosts. Foliage is olive-green and glossy and said to show excellent disease resistance.

Rosa Celebrating LifeCelebrating Life
A floribunda rose producing pink to lilac blooms with a rich, sweet scent, in long-lasting clusters on a strong plant. Harkness say this selection will thrive in beds and borders and performs well as a cut flower. Named for the Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust Pink Rose Appeal, working to combat breast cancer.

Rosa Chewton RoseChewton Rose
Growing to a height of approx 120cm (4ft) this floribunda rose produces semi-double rosy-red blooms throughout the season, offset by dark green, healthy foliage. This rose has been bred exclusively for Chewton Rose, a property estate agency who present rose bushes to their clients, welcoming them to their new homes.

Rosa Burning DesireBurning Desire ('Frysizzle')
A floribunda selection producing plentiful, lightly scented petite blooms of a fiery burning-orange colour, tinted with sunshine yellow. Growth is strong, upright and bushy to approx 85cm (3ft) and said to show excellent disease resistance.

Rosa Bee ParadiseBee’s Paradise Roses® Light Red, Apricot, Yellow, Red, White
Its attractiveness to honey bees, bumblebees and hoverflies was first noticed on the Light Red selection. Other colours in the range include apricot, yellow, red and white, all of which flower prolifically throughout the season. Foliage on all the varieties is luxuriant, dark and glossy, and said to show excellent disease resistance. Bees’ Paradise Roses® have been bred and selected especially for performing well on their own roots; they will thrive in sunny or semi-shaded locations, in borders or containers.
