A Rocket Science model took pride of place in front of the Floral Marquee, celebrating the RHS Campaign for School Gardening Rocket Science Project, which has encouraged hundreds of children to get into gardening.
The Butterfly Dome located near to the World Gardens was a spectacular Show Feature. Packed with wildlife-friendly planting, it invited visitors into a world of tropical butterflies with a chance to learn about their life cycle and how to attract native types into the garden.
Space-themed scarecrows filled the horizon, as local school children were challenged to use plants and recycled materials to create out-of-this-world competition entries.
Inspiration for gardening in a small space could be found in the four Feel-Good Front Gardens. The result of a nationwide competition by the RHS and BBC Local Radio, the garden designs explored how plants and good design have a positive impact on people's health and wellbeing.
There was an extra-special visitor to the Dogs Trust: A Dogs Life Show Garden – West Highland Terrier Marky explored the semi-formal contemporary space that celebrated the charity's 125th anniversary and its commitment to finding loving homes for homeless dogs.
Country singer, songwriter Carson McHone provided musical entertainment as she performed at the Great Gardens of the USA: The Austin Garden, in support of her home town Austin, Texas.
Celebrating the iconic rose, the Festival of Roses marquee showcased colourful blooms and striking, scented rose displays. Expert rose-growing advice was also on hand along with a chance to see Rose of the Year 2017.
Shakespearean actors added a touch of dramatic flare to the All the World's a Stage garden. Performing scenes in the garden's sunken amphitheatre, they brought to life Shakespeare's 'seven ages of man', the inspiration behind the garden's design.
You could browse and buy from the best exhibitors and nurseries in the Floral Marquee. With a diverse range of plants on offer and eye-catching displays, it was the ideal place to get expert advice from the best the that the gardening world has on offer.
And when you needed a rest, there was plenty of space at the show to take a well-earned break to relax and enjoy the showground's historic surroundings – just like our celebrity visitors.
