After seeing small ‘gardens’ taken up primarily by concrete and paving, leaving little or no room for plants and wildlife, Sam Ovens designed this landscape across different levels to free up more space for planting. Its aim was to connect people with plants and wildlife, showcasing simple solutions while offering a peaceful and tranquil space for people to escape to.
Every inch of the ground was densely planted with varieties of grasses and ferns with pops of flowers among them including Cirsium rivulare ‘Atropurpureum’, Verbena bonariensis and Agastache ‘Blackadder’ to illustrate the significance of our gardens. Concrete stepping stones led to a decked area and to seating.
