Visit Harlow Carr throughout the summer for events and activities celebrating the 75th anniversary of Enid Blyton’s very first Famous Five book, ‘Five on a Treasure Island’. Take part in outdoor ‘have a go’ workshops, see birds-of-prey demonstrations, listen to tall tales and make your own Famous Five explorer kit. Don’t forget to visit the willow wigwam camp and take a nostalgic look at the Enid exhibition in the Bath House.

The year 2017 celebrates 75 years since the very first Famous Five book, ‘Five On A Treasure Island’, by Enid Blyton, was published. To mark the occasion the RHS has teamed up with Enid Blyton Entertainment and Hodder Children’s Books to offer a range of exciting events and activities this summer. 
At RHS Garden Harlow Carr there will be Birds of Prey demonstrations and outdoor workshops exploring how flowers and herbs can be used in food, medicines and drinks. There will also be six performances of immersive Famous Five theatre across the garden.
 
Daily trail
Help the Famous Five find Uncle Quentin who has gone missing on a horticultural research mission!
Story writing workshops - Mondays at 10.30am – 12.30pm & 1pm – 3pm in The Sunley room.
Join our creative writing experts as they showcase their story generator and share their tips on writing the best short stories. 
 
Garden Detectives - Storytelling sessions at 11am, 1pm & 3pm in The Lodge.
Join us every Tuesday throughout the summer holidays as the Garden Detectives introduce a Famous Five character each week. Meet  George, Timmy, Dick, Anne and Julian and take part in a garden adventure with them each week.

Craft workshops - Wednesdays at 10.30am – 12.30pm & 1pm – 3pm in The Sunley room
Join us every Wednesday to make your own Famous Five explorer kit to take on your adventures around the garden. You can make a different item each week, so make sure you come every week to complete your kit!
Week 1: Adventure binoculars
Week 2: Secret message paper
Week 3: Paper picnic baskets
Week 4: Compasses
Week 5: Make a disguise
Week 6: Adventure medals or badges
Birds of Prey demonstrations will held on the main lawn on Thursday's throughout the summer holidays. Flying shows at 11am & 1pm.

Outdoor workshop: Fridays
Outdoor workshops exploring how flowers / herbs can be used in food, medicines and drinks.
 
On 1 August join the Garden Detectives for Yorkshire themed games and activities to help us celebrate Yorkshire Day.
 
On 11 August bring a picnic and help us to celebrate what would have been Enid Blyton's 120th birthday. We'll be hosting a giant picnic party along with games and music, so come and join us!
