    10:00am - 4:00pm

  • Subject

    Workshop

This inspiring new workshop will introduce you to the rare historical process of anthotype printing developed by some of the great scientists of the 1800s. Using nature’s resources from the wonderfully abundant gardens at Easton you will excitingly exploit the light sensitivity of plants and their beautiful colour palette.

Your expert tutor will guide you through the process of extracting a coloured emulsion from plants using apothecary techniques, all the way to creating a finished image. You will produce gorgeous floral prints from collected specimens which can be displayed in your home, used in card making or given as a special gift. Anthotyping is an intriguing process, full of surprises as the fascinating results are created by natural elements.  Many plants are as yet unexplored so you may just make a brand new discovery on the workshop! Depending on the plants chosen the anthotype printing process can be as fast as 2 hours or as long as 3 weeks, so you will be able to take your resources home with you to continue after the workshop and perhaps make some more prints from your own garden.
