    Mixed media painting

Learn to use a range of mixed media including inks and tea to create at least two paintings over this two-day workshop. After spending a short time outside to quickly sketch ideas, you will be heading back indoors to play with calligraphy inks and teas on paper, using pen nibs, sticks and feathers to loosely and expressively capture a sense of Rosemoor.

Cathryn (Kathy) Nettles, a Devon-based artist, creates vibrant paintings that are a fusion of abstraction and realism. Kathy works primarily in oil and cold wax on board and canvas, taking inspiration and joy from the nearby moorlands, which is evident throughout her artwork.

Kathy opened her art studio in 2018 and developed her artistic voice at the prestigious Newlyn School of Art in Cornwall. She has exhibited locally in Devon and Cornwall, and further afield.

Please bring with you:

  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes and sketches
  • Camera (or mobile phone for photos)

Please wear old clothes or an apron and wear closed-toed shoes. Please also ensure you have outdoor clothes suitable for the weather on the day (waterproofs, sunhat etc!) as part of the first day will be spent sketching outside.

All materials and equipment will be provided. Tea or coffee and picnic lunch included.

Tutor: Kathy Nettles

Kathy Nettles will be exhibiting in the PBLC Exhibition Room from 18 March to 16 April 2023.
