Discover the sustainable craft of rag rugging with author and expert Elspeth Jackson from Ragged Life, as you fashion delightful festive Christmas decorations such as a wreath, mini-wreath tree ornaments, or a 3D table-top Christmas tree. Learn the intricacies of both the traditional shaggy style of rag rugging and the artful use of a two-string loom. Choose your preferred project from the array of three options available and let your creativity flourish under Elspeth's seasoned guidance.

During this introductory class, you'll discover how to select and prepare materials for rag rugging, effortlessly break them into strips, and design stunning seasonal projects, among other valuable skills. Gain the confidence to embark on rag rug projects at home and leave with a beautiful handmade creation.

Arrival Information: 
  • Please arrive 15 mins before the start of the workshop to allow time to register your arrival at the Welcome Building.
  • The workshop takes place in the Clore Learning Centre located at the top of the hill, adjacent to the Gardeners Rest Restaurant.
For this workshop:  
  • All materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary.
  • Tea and coffee available throughout the workshop,
  • You are welcome to bring along a packed lunch or the restaurant will be open from 10:30am to purchase food/refreshments.
