Learn a little essential botany and make a beautiful study page of a plant with botanical descriptions and details. Knowing a little botany will improve your drawing skills and you won’t look at a plant in the same way again. You will also draw a half dissected flower and learn the rules to follow to ensure it is scientifically correct.
During the three days, you will make accurate measured drawings and learn what botany to notice when drawing a plant and flowers. Jackie will demonstrate how to dissect a flower to draw it accurately, and you will be able to practice this yourselves. You will be supported with how to structure your page of studies with botany notes. A microscope will be available to see smaller parts.
Dissecting a flower can be so enlightening. A dissection kit is included in the course so that you can further your dissection studies at home. You will be given comprehensive notes to refer to during class and take home.

Jackie has taught this workshop a few times and it has been very well received. She is an RHS Gold Medal winner and studied basic botany alongside botanist Liz Leech to complete her exhibition entry. It made her realise how important this knowledge is for botanical artists. Jackie has paintings held at the RHS Lindley Library, The Shirley Sherwood Collection and The Hunt Library.
