    Plant names

Unravel the mysteries of botanical Latin and explore some of the ways that the language can give us clues to a plant’s characteristics and origins. A small amount of Latin can open up a whole new world of botanical information and is invaluable in identifying a particular plant that you are keen to add to your own garden.

After an introduction in the classroom, we will head outside to explore the gardens at RHS Garden Rosemoor and see what we can decipher from the labelling.

As part of this session, you will be given a copy of Plant Names Simplified or a similar book to help you continue your journey into Latin plant names.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera or mobile phone for photos if you wish
Please wear clothes and footwear suitable for the weather on the day. Parts of this workshop will be taking place both indoors and outside.

Tea, coffee and cake included.

Tutor: Viv Hunt
