In this special workshop we will be taking a tour of gardening through time as told by the collections of the RHS Lindley Library. Starting in the 17th century, we will be delving into an array of rare books, artworks and archives to bring to light the people, plants and places that shaped gardening over 400 years.
This session is open to garden historians, archivists and enthusiasts alike, who want to discover how they can research and seek inspiration from our specialist collections.
Collections material will include the influential writings of Thomas Fairchild (The City Gardener, 1722) and the beautiful chromolithographs of Adveno Brookes (The Gardens of England, 1856-7).
RHS Membership is not required to sign up for our Discovery Morning, nor to access our collections as a researcher. This session will be led by Fiona Davison, and light refreshments will be provided.
Fiona Davison - Fiona is the Head of Libraries and Exhibitions at the RHS, as well as an accomplished author of two non-fiction books. Fiona's books seek to highlight the voices of gardeners whose stories, once lost to history, have emerged through her research of our collections.
