    Patchworking

This workshop will introduce You to the traditional patchwork method of using templates, also known as English paper piecing. The workshop will teach how to select and combine fabrics, how to cover the templates and join them together.

The earliest surviving piece of English piecing dates back to the early eighteenth-century and it continues to be one the most popular and theraputic methods of patchwork.

In the spirit of how patchworking began, as a way of recycling remnants of fabrics, you are welcome to bring along your own fabrics. These could include sentimental scraps from old garments or childrens’ clothes. They don't have to be large pieces of fabric, A4 size of three different non stretchy, 100% cotton fabrics is perfect. There will also be a selection of fabrics available for you to use on the day.

You can use the hexagon 'flowers' you create to patch and repair clothing or as an embellishment, you are welcome to bring along a garment - jeans, jacket, dress - anything will do as long as it’s not stretch material. Templates, needles, threads and scissors will be provided.

Tea & Coffee will be available throughout the workshop. Your ticket price also includes garden entry on the day.
