You will learn how to make a beautiful hexagon flower block using paper templates. The flower could be used as a decorative patch or an appliquéd detail on jeans or a bag. Alternatively it might be the start of something larger, a cushion cover or perhaps a quilt. You are welcome to bring along your own fabrics.
The basic techniques are simple and perfect for the sewing novice and once you have learnt them you will be hooked!
You will master covering the templates and joining them together.
The earliest surviving piece of template patchwork dates back to the early eighteenth-century and it continues to be one the most popular and theraputic methods of patchwork.
In the spirit of how patchworking began, as a way of recycling remnants of fabrics, you are welcome to bring along your own fabrics. These could include precious scraps from old garments or childrens’ clothes, A5 sized pieces of three different non stretchy, 100% cotton fabrics.
There will also be a selection of fabrics available for you to use on the day.
No experience of hand stitching is necessary, the technique is simple but effective and mindful.
Tea and coffee will be available throughout the workshop. Your ticket price also includes garden entry on the day.
