    New build garden

A new-build garden might seem daunting, especially if it is your first home or you have not had much of a garden before. This workshop will help you to overcome some of the challenges that a new garden can present, turning them instead into opportunities and giving you some confidence and skills to put to immediate use.

New-build gardens can present a unique set of conditions. A plot which has been laid entirely to lawn can often look a bit uninspiring, there may be blank fences and you may find that the top soil is thin or poor quality.

You will have the opportunity to consider factors such as caring for newly laid lawns, basic planning, covering fences, quick impact verses long-term investment and managing other problems left behind by builders.

The workshop will be taught by Ian Smith, RHS Garden Advisor, who brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure that you leave the session feeling more confident at gardening and with skills that you can go home and put into practice straight away.

Please bring with you:
  • Your booking reference number
  • A notebook and pencil to make notes
  • Camera (or mobile phone for photos)
All materials provided. Lunch, tea/coffee and biscuits included.

Tutor: Ian Smith
