#MyChelseaGarden

After the roaring success of last year’s competition, we teamed up again to celebrate your gardens

We have again joined forces with The One Show to bring you My Chelsea Garden, a competition to get everyone to ‘grow and show’ and celebrate RHS Virtual Chelsea Flower Show.

We are asking people to enter pictures of their green spaces in one of the following four categories: Back Garden, Front Garden, Alternative Garden (Houseplants, window sills, balconies, etc), and Community Garden (a single piece of land gardened collectively by a group of people from more than one household).

This year, one overall winner will be chosen for a special prize ‘best in show’ and will be the entry which most captures how gardening has helped us at this time.

As part of the competition, we want to know how people’s gardens have helped them through this last year.

We firmly believe thousands more people took up gardening during the pandemic with some 30 million people visiting our website for tips and help with their green spaces. Our research has shown that having a greener garden reduces stress levels and can make you feel happier, more relaxed and closer to nature.

We hope people will flood their social media feeds with positive images of plants and beautiful gardens to help ease anxiety and provide some respite. Show off your project and inspire others using the hashtag #mychelseagarden.

Judges this year include The One Show presenter Alex Jones and writer and broadcaster Monty Don.

Alex said: “I thoroughly enjoyed getting to look at our viewers’ gardens last year and I’m so excited to do it again in 2021.

“Gardening has been so important to so many people in the last 12 months and I can’t wait to team up with Monty Don, and our new judge Isabelle Palmer, to see all of your hard work.”

How do I take part?

Good question. Visit The One Show online  where you’ll be asked to submit one current picture of your garden in one of the four categories with up to 200 words explaining how the space has helped you in the past 12 months.

You will also find the full terms and conditions and privacy notice.

The competition opens at 7pm Tuesday, 6 April 2021 and closes just before midnight Sunday, 25 April 2021. The winners will be announced the week of RHS Virtual Chelsea.

The prizes

One winner from each category will receive four public day tickets for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021 and a special RHS Award commending their garden.

Competition judges are The One Show presenter Alex Jones, writer and broadcaster Monty Don, RHS Head of Shows Judging James Alexander-Sinclair, author and small gardens expert Isabelle Palmer, and head of The One Show Rob Unsworth.

Good luck.
