A large, bushy, deciduous shrub ultimately reaching 4m in height. The leaves have 5-7 slender, pointed lobes, opening pinky-red in spring, developing to dark green heavily-flushed with dark red in summer, and turning purple-red in autumn. Small purple flowers are followed by red fruits

How to grow
Cultivation
Grow in moist but well-drained soil. Water in summer if necessary. Leaf colour is best in partial shade, although full sun can be tolerated. Leaf scorch can be caused by lack of soil moisture or excessive exposure
