A medium to large-sized, epiphytic, evergreen orchid, producing a clump of egg-shaped pseudobulbs, carrying six to ten linear, dark-green leathery leaves. Each leaf is up to 80cm long and approximately 2cm wide. In winter and early spring, arching flowering stems emerge from the base of new, mature pseudobulbs. Each stem bears up to ten, 8-11cm large flowers. The flowers are waxy and long-lasting, bright yellow with sepals occasionally darker and with dark red markings on the lower part of the lip
