A large-sized, evergreen epiphytic orchid hybrid valued for its long-lasting, large flowers. The plant produces a clump of large, egg-shaped pseudobulbs, covered in leaf-bearing, basal sheaths. Leaves are semi-rigid, leathery, and linear, up to 90cm long and 2-3cm wide. The plant flowers on upright flowering stems, emerging from the base of mature pseudobulbs in late winter and spring. Each stem carries up to twenty bright, golden yellow flowers. The flowers are up to 11cm across, with a characteristic dark red pattern on the lip
