A low-growing perennial bulb, up to 15cm high, with pairs of lance-shaped, grey-green leaves, wrapped one around the other at the base. Solitary, nodding white flowers are produced in late winter; flowers are large for the height of the plant, with green blotches at the base and tip of the inner petals
