A rounded, deciduous, small to medium-sized tree or shrub to around 3m tall with coral-red young shoots. Its 5-lobed leaves emerge a lime green in spring, darkening to a mid-green in summer before turning shades of yellow and orange in the autumn. Small red flowers in spring are followed by winged red fruits
