A compact, rhizomatous perennial with erect, somewhat zig-zagging stems to 45cm tall. The glossy, stem-clasping leaves have fine, creamy-white margins. In late summer and early autumn it produces loose clusters of exotic-looking, white or pink flowers with heavy purple mottling and yellowish throats. Grow in a woodland garden or shady border
