Clump-forming evergreen perennial about 30-40cm tall, with very broad, rounded mid-green leaves to 35cm across, tinted red in autumn and edged with fine hairs. Rose-pink flowers on upright pinkish-green stems, appear in early spring. Foliage may die back in frost prone areas during winter

How to grow
Cultivation
Grow in humus-rich, moist but well drained soil in sun or part shade with shelter from cold winds. This plant has evergreen leaves generally, but foliage may die back during cold winter weather and reappear in spring. See bergenia cultivation
