A herbaceous perennial forming mound-like clumps, about 15cm high and 30cm across, with slightly wavy leaves, 9cm long, with very shiny surfaces. The leaves have prominent golden yellow centres with a dark green margin. The pale purple, tubular flowers appear in mid to late summer
