A clump-forming, compact, herbaceous perennial with large, heart-shaped, mid-green, deeply lobed leaves. In mid to late summer, upright, densely-clustered, spires of bright yellow, starry flowers are borne on black-purple stems. These open sequentially from the lowest upwards. Height around 1m (3.2ft).
