A large-sized, evergreen epiphytic orchid with linear, 90cm long and 2-3cm wide, leathery leaves. Egg shaped pseudobulbs are covered with wider, leaf-bearing, basal sheaths. Upright flowering stems emerge from the base of pseudobulbs in late winter and early spring and reach up to 90cm tall. Each stem bears up to ten flowers. The flowers are yellow or orange, often with darker pattern on petals and sepals. Each flower measures up to 11cm across and is non-fragrant but long-lasting
