A low growing, clump-forming, evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial with heart shaped to ovate, spiny-toothed, green leaves, flushed bronze when young. In spring, slender, wiry stems bearing short, open racemes of small, star shaped, white flowers with yellow inner sepals.
