A striking, tender, mound-forming and spreading perennial, usually grown as a container patio plant or bedding annual for seasonal displays. It has ovate, sticky-hairy, mid-green leaves and, from late spring into autumn, velvety, trumpet-shaped, dark velvety purple flowers, that usually also have a creamy-yellow halo around the edge.
