A mat-forming, evergreen succulent producing fleshy rosettes, the long, spoon-shaped, pointed, green leaves with red tips, in spring, change to honey-gold in summer and become deep red in winter and early spring. Tall spikes of starry creamy flowers produced from mature rosettes, die off after flowering in summer and are replaced by new offsets
